Closing Down Sale

Who would have thought this time last year that 2020 would have turned out to be so strange? I’m sure everyone is eager to get back to normal and renew our friendships and communal activities. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem likely for some time. Not in the way it used to be anyway. I know some groups are meeting again albeit with socially distant seating arrangements, individual food parcels and bring-your-own-mug rules. Not to mention the… Continue Reading

We’re still here…

As I’m writing this there is a very cold wind blowing and it seems winter has arrived. No doubt that will bring more problems in the management of the coronavirus. I’m sure many of you are tired of the restrictions and the impact they have on everyday life. Trying to organise Mum’s 90th birthday party has been very difficult and it has been whittled down to a very small group at home. The Laidley Spring… Continue Reading

Another week in paradise

Weeks are flying by as we all react to these changing circumstances in our own way. Some silly people are cleaning out their cupboards but most of the Apatcheez are taking advantage of the time by finishing off their UFO’s or perhaps starting new projects. Many have been shared on social media. For those that don’t have Facebook or other platforms I thought you might like to have a look at some of the recent… Continue Reading

Coronavirus

There has been some confusion over recent days regarding our classes. I have been following the Coronavirus updates closely and, at this stage, classes will continue. In light of the growing public-health concern, and in an effort to prioritize our health and wellness, I would ask that anyone who feels sick to please refrain from coming to Apatchy until you are sure all of your symptoms are completely gone. While here we will practise good… Continue Reading

I’m All Shook Up

Ok the big news first…shameless self-promotion follows….. as you know I was asked to make an Elvis quilt for inclusion in the book ‘Inspired by Elvis’. This quilt was finished and sent off to the other side of the world in December 2016 but I wasn’t allowed to shown anyone until the book was published. So the first news is that the book has been published and is available on Booktopia  or from Angus and… Continue Reading

…and the UFO to work on this month is…

Yes another month has gone by and hopefully you are well into last month’s project. If not you’ll have to work on it at the same time as this next one. Many of the Apatcheez have organised their UFO’s into a list and are working their way through that list – have a look here at this blog post if you’re not sure what I mean. The new number has been drawn but before I tell you… Continue Reading

Heather’s Memorial Service

I just wanted to let you know that Heather‘s daughter Tanya has contacted me and advised that there will be a memorial service held for her mum at 3.00pm on Thursday the 24 August at Albany Creek Memorial Gardens, 400 Creek Road, Bridgeman Downs. I’m sure I will see many of you at classes over the next two days but I wanted to let you know prior to that so you could flag the date and time.

Sad News

Many of you will be shocked and saddened to hear that our lovely sewing sister Heather Hardy passed away today after suffering a heart attack on Friday. It is hard to believe that we won’t see Heather’s smiling face again. She had eyes that lit up with laughter. She was a great friend to Apatchy Quilting and had been here from the beginning.  As well she was a friend to many at Apatchy and was… Continue Reading

Bowie on Parade

Hello everyone. Long time no hear. I almost had a post ready last week when the computer screen went black. It was returned to me today and apparently there was no fault – it must have wanted the weekend off. Anyway I am not quite ready with the next post but wanted to share some news with you all, especially as I won’t see the Wednesday girls tomorrow because of the public holiday here. So……. Winter is for Quilting

Although we don’t care too much about the weather, June in Brisbane is always a great time to get stuck into a project and to start to work on that winter quilting programme. The fierce heat of summer is but a memory and the cooler weather starts to seep in. Sure we don’t see the beautiful snowy landscapes that a colder climate might enjoy, but as soon as the thermometer dips below 240 you see… Continue Reading
