Welcome to Apatchy Quilting Blog

Another week in paradise

Weeks are flying by as we all react to these changing circumstances in our own way. Some silly people are cleaning out their cupboards but most of the Apatcheez are taking advantage of the time by finishing off their UFO’s or perhaps starting new projects. Many have been shared on social media. For those that don’t have Facebook or other platforms I thought you might like to have a look at some of the recent… Continue Reading

Staying Sane

We are living in a time for which quilters have spent decades preparing themselves. Finally that massive stash can be utilised for your mental health. This is the new normal. I won’t add too much more noise about coronavirus as there seems to be enough of that around at the moment. Almost every email I receive tells me about safety restrictions or closures or both. This beast is putting a lot of businesses to the… Continue Reading

Coronavirus

There has been some confusion over recent days regarding our classes. I have been following the Coronavirus updates closely and, at this stage, classes will continue. In light of the growing public-health concern, and in an effort to prioritize our health and wellness, I would ask that anyone who feels sick to please refrain from coming to Apatchy until you are sure all of your symptoms are completely gone. While here we will practise good… Continue Reading

Welcome to 2019 and don’t forget the red underwear!

Welcome to 2019 at Apatchy Quilting! As usual we are very warm here in Brisbane and the air conditioners are cranked up to give us some relief – which then gives us a perfect sewing environment! I have many projects on the ‘to-be-done’ list and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into them after having a hiatus from sewing for many weeks. We spent over five weeks in Europe – Luvvy and I escorting our… Continue Reading

Apatcheez Win!

Hello everyone First the big news – two of the Apatcheez have won prizes in the Queensland Quilters’ Show –  Big congratulations to Robyne for first prize in her category with her ballerina quilt – now you might remember that I told you it was a prize-winning quilt in a previous post  Here’s the quilt again –  and here’s Robyne accepting her prize (thanks for the photo Jane) Naturally there was an Apatcheez cheer squad in force. … Continue Reading

Challenge Accepted

As you know it was Apatchy Quilting’s 10th birthday last month and we certainly celebrated in style. Before I show you the amazing creations for the challenge let me show you what’s been happening in the classes. Naturally there are new quilts for show and tell and here they are –  Jane has become an expert at making these peanut cushions, so much so that she receives numerous requests. This was a more masculine version… Continue Reading

Winner’s Circle

It’s been a while since we last spoke and much has transpired. Last time I told you about the Elvis quilt being featured in the Quilts Inc catalogue. Well the postie finally brought the parcel with the book! and look who featured on the Table of Contents page –  If you want to read what I wrote, the book is available on Booktopia  or from Angus and Robertson Online. After all that excitement we still had a few classes… Continue Reading

I’m All Shook Up

Ok the big news first…shameless self-promotion follows….. as you know I was asked to make an Elvis quilt for inclusion in the book ‘Inspired by Elvis’. This quilt was finished and sent off to the other side of the world in December 2016 but I wasn’t allowed to shown anyone until the book was published. So the first news is that the book has been published and is available on Booktopia  or from Angus and… Continue Reading

Long days, short years

Another month has passed us by and I hope you achieved a lot on your UFO number 8. Personally I was still working on the previous month’s project but I am making headway – albeit slowly. I have much to share with you this month as the Apatcheez have been their usual prolific selves – an inspiration that’s for sure. Our classes have been a little quite lately because many are off on holidays and… Continue Reading

UFO of the Month

Hello everyone   I hope you’re enjoying your easter break and getting stuck into that sewing. We have a new month and so a new UFO to work on. Ger out your list and check last month’s progress off because this month the progress will be on UFO number…… Yes it’s number 8 – so you have a month to sink that project – and two more days of full time sewing to get a… Continue Reading
