Apatcheez Win!

Hello everyone First the big news – two of the Apatcheez have won prizes in the Queensland Quilters’ Show –  Big congratulations to Robyne for first prize in her category with her ballerina quilt – now you might remember that I told you it was a prize-winning quilt in a previous post  Here’s the quilt again –  and here’s Robyne accepting her prize (thanks for the photo Jane) Naturally there was an Apatcheez cheer squad in force. … Continue Reading

Challenge Accepted

As you know it was Apatchy Quilting’s 10th birthday last month and we certainly celebrated in style. Before I show you the amazing creations for the challenge let me show you what’s been happening in the classes. Naturally there are new quilts for show and tell and here they are –  Jane has become an expert at making these peanut cushions, so much so that she receives numerous requests. This was a more masculine version… Continue Reading

Winner’s Circle

It’s been a while since we last spoke and much has transpired. Last time I told you about the Elvis quilt being featured in the Quilts Inc catalogue. Well the postie finally brought the parcel with the book! and look who featured on the Table of Contents page –  If you want to read what I wrote, the book is available on Booktopia  or from Angus and Robertson Online. After all that excitement we still had a few classes… Continue Reading

I’m All Shook Up

Ok the big news first…shameless self-promotion follows….. as you know I was asked to make an Elvis quilt for inclusion in the book ‘Inspired by Elvis’. This quilt was finished and sent off to the other side of the world in December 2016 but I wasn’t allowed to shown anyone until the book was published. So the first news is that the book has been published and is available on Booktopia  or from Angus and… Continue Reading

Long days, short years

Another month has passed us by and I hope you achieved a lot on your UFO number 8. Personally I was still working on the previous month’s project but I am making headway – albeit slowly. I have much to share with you this month as the Apatcheez have been their usual prolific selves – an inspiration that’s for sure. Our classes have been a little quite lately because many are off on holidays and… Continue Reading

…and the UFO to work on this month is…

Yes another month has gone by and hopefully you are well into last month’s project. If not you’ll have to work on it at the same time as this next one. Many of the Apatcheez have organised their UFO’s into a list and are working their way through that list – have a look here at this blog post if you’re not sure what I mean. The new number has been drawn but before I tell you… Continue Reading

Another UFO down

It was great to see so many people at classes this week including a couple of new faces. Everyone was very busy on their projects and many took my advice from the last blog post and tried to organise their UFO list for the year. Rather than wait for the APQ site to determine our fate we decided, at the Wednesday class, to draw our own monthly numbers (and get the jump on America by 24 hours!)…. Continue Reading

Spring Fever is Wild

Spring has certainly started off well here in Brissie with blue skies and sunny days. The postman must be feeling it too – because look what arrived today! The aptly-names ‘Spring Fever’ is Jane Sassaman’s latest collection. She is well-known for over-sized leaves and flowers and this range goes all out to boost spirits with its fresh colours and energetic patterns. Did I mention that there is another colourway too –  I have literally just… Continue Reading

A challenge for you

After the ups and downs of the past couple of weeks you might like to see some photos of the wonderful projects the Apatcheez have made. And there might be a challenge announcement somewhere in here too. Now it’s been a while since you saw photos so prepare yourself –  Firstly Esther, who lives in Denmark, finished her version of The Edwardian House and made it sing with the bright fabric choices. Esther has a great… Continue Reading

Winter is for Quilting

Although we don’t care too much about the weather, June in Brisbane is always a great time to get stuck into a project and to start to work on that winter quilting programme. The fierce heat of summer is but a memory and the cooler weather starts to seep in. Sure we don’t see the beautiful snowy landscapes that a colder climate might enjoy, but as soon as the thermometer dips below 240 you see… Continue Reading
